Fur has been used for centuries by the Inuit and explorers to keep warm. Wintergreen offers Faux Fur to folks who want the same look as fur, though studies have shown that faux fur is not as effective as real fur in creating a protective air pocket around the face. Our synthetic ruffs are a natural brown coloring.

    All of our garments have a "tailored" cut; slightly tapered to fit body shape and keep a well fitting look throughout. The amount of contour is more gradual for looser fitting items. For our Women's style, this means more room in the bust & hips and a slightly tapered waist. For our Men's style, this means more room in the shoulders and a slightly tapered waist/hips area.

    How To Measure

    Neck - Measure the fullest part of the neck. Chest/bust - Measure around fullest part of chest, just under the arms. Sleeve - Measure from center of neck to elbow (bent) and down to wrist. Waist - Measure around your natural waist line keeping the tape a bit loose. Inseam- Measure from crotch to ankle bone. Hip - Stand with your feet together and measure around the fullest part of the body at the top of the leg. Head - Measure around the fullest part of your head, just above the ear. Hands - Measure around the widest part of your knuckle, not including the thumb.

    Faux vs. real fur ruff

    Haven't had it in blowing snow yet, but in single-digit and 20 mph wind conditions out walking my dog, it has been just what I was hoping for. I lived with a faux-fur hood ruff for the past 40+ years and it worked fine for my purposes. Considered the real fur ruff, but looking at the cost and special care required to maintain it, this works fine for me.

    Nice alternative!

    I have been shopping with Evergreen for about 20 years. I have an old coyote fur ruff that is just beautiful, and is still in great shape after many many years. If I lived in a remote wilderness area in Alaska or was a long distance dog musher, I’d stick w/ the real fur. But I’m not, and have stepped away from buying real animal fur. I feel good about wearing this Zip-On Faux Fur Ruff!! It’s beautiful, feels good around my face AND provides good protection and warmth. I just spent 3 weeks in remote northern Alaska and wore this zipped onto my Expedition Anorak Shell while I was snowshoeing, dog mushing, etc. I feel very good about this purchase and would recommend this faux ruff! High quality! Also, can’t get better customer service ANYWHERE!
