Looking Forward: A Letter From the President

Where’s the snow? In our neck of the woods we are waiting patiently for some more wintery weather to play in, but I’ll be careful what I wish for as I’m sure the weather is coming soon.

If you are reading this then you have probably been on the giving or receiving end of a Wintergreen gift this holiday season. We take this time to offer a sincere thank you for supporting our small and growing business. Our crew has been busy keeping our inventory stocked and order lead times much lower this season. Now that the dust is settling, I’m eager to share recent and upcoming happenings at Wintergreen.

Producing Your Wintergreen

We made lowering lead times our mission in 2023 and the results were very exciting. Through hard work and local partnerships, we have been able to regain higher levels of inventory which put us in a much better position this fall to serve our holiday shoppers. This is a critical component to support the growth of Wintergreen and will remain a focus for 2024. Congrats goes to the hard-working staff at Wintergreen!

Sustainability & Limited Releases

We’ll continue to offer limited releases of creative and environmentally friendly garments. These projects are fun for our team and customers alike, and they allow us to put low, obsolete, and slightly flawed fabrics to good use rather than into the landfill. Look for opportunities to grab these limited edition releases via our newsletters and social posts throughout 2024.

Fun Web Things

The digital world continues to change and so does Wintergreen’s presence online. If you haven’t already noticed, we have new activity icons located throughout our website and storefront. These indicate the activities that each garment best serves. We’ve also improved our website functionality with easier filters, product-focused sizing charts and navigation. We are currently making accessibility improvements so that we can serve the widest range of customers' needs that we can.

New and Improved Product

Now that we have beefed up our design talent and experience, we have a short list of products that will be introduced in 2024. A couple that will catch your eye, and a couple projects that will make our sizing and current offerings more complete. The work is never finished around here.  

In with the new: Wintergreen Polar Fleece

A while back, we received notice that the supply of our heavy WindPro® fleece fabric used in our Expedition Fleece Anoraks was not going to be available in 2024. Although this news was concerning, we looked at it as an opportunity, as you may expect from the craftspeople at Wintergreen. A time to think differently and to raise the bar.

We studied the fleece fabric supply chain and when we exhausted the current fabric supply market, we attended trade shows and spent hours in search of options we could work with. Unsatisfied with our options, the journey led us to a manufacturer based in Quebec, Canada who was willing to create and manufacture a unique 425 gsm weight fleece to meet Wintergreen’s quality benchmark for years to come. The journey has been long but the results are amazing. We believe that our new Wintergreen Polar Fleece is the heaviest and the most dense on the market, and we are soon officially changing over our inventory.

I have worn a sample anorak with this fabric for several months and I’m very pleased with it. I can’t wait for you to try it.  But don’t take my word for it, here’s an excerpt from a message of one of our elite ambassadors:
