Continuing a Legacy - Proud to be Women-Owned

Wintergreen’s story began with a bold idea and a visionary woman.

Our founder, Susan Schurke, built Wintergreen with purpose — designing clothing to help people connect with the outdoors and face the elements with confidence. With care and creativity, Sue designed each piece to support adventure, family, and the joy of time outside. She didn’t just build a business — she created a legacy of quality clothing you can trust, made in small town America.

Sue remains a friend and an ongoing source of inspiration. When she entrusted Wintergreen to new ownership in 2021, it was with the hope that its spirit—rooted in quality, community, and love of the outdoors—would continue to thrive.

Today, we’re proud to share a meaningful milestone:
Wintergreen is once again a women-owned business.

Business partners Katie Kalkman Harren and Solveig Harren now hold majority ownership, reflecting their growing involvement and strong leadership in shaping our future. As mothers raising active kids right here in Minnesota, both are passionate about helping families like yours spend more time outdoors, whether exploring a state park or simply enjoying your own backyard.

Choosing Wintergreen means more than buying exceptional outdoor gear. You support our ability to innovate and bring fresh solutions to meet your needs for comfort and performance in the outdoors. Our women-owned leadership challenges outdated norms to better reflect the diversity of our communities and body types. When you buy from Wintergreen, you can feel confident knowing your purchase supports a business committed to making a positive impact on society and the environment - without cutting corners on quality.

Katie’s background in design and impact strategy bring fresh ideas to our garments, while Solveig’s commitment to customer satisfaction adds to the capabilities of our dedicated team. They are continuing the powerful legacy that Sue began: belief in the outdoors, in quality craftsmanship, and an unwavering belief in people — like you.

After all, there’s no bad weather—only bad clothing.

Thank you for being an integral part of this incredible journey. Your support fuels our work and keeps the Wintergreen story of American-made excellence, led by proud women, moving forward for generations to come.

Why don’t you offer some of the men’s items that were offered by the original owners.
Fleece full zip hoodies, and fleece cardigans, etc.
