We know what works. We have to. The outdoors is our way of life. We live, design, sew and sell our gear in Minnesota’s northern border wilderness. We began in 1985 by designing gear for our first expedition to the North Pole. Since then, we’ve explored just about every cold place on the planet, from Greenland to the Russian Arctic—all with our own gear. Serious field-testing.

QUALITY CONSTRUCTION

We make it ourselves, we sell it ourselves. Nothing is made overseas or sold to other retailers. Rolls of fabric come in the back of our shop and finished garments go out the front. That means we monitor quality every step of the way.

QUALITY FABRICS

We build our clothing with the best quality materials available. All fabrics are not created equal. As a result of our thorough testing we use only fabrics that do what they say they do. We do not use cheap imitations.

We take great pride in being one of the largest private employers in a small remote town where jobs are scarce but garmentmaking
talents and pride in workmanship are in abundance. We’re one of the last full-line outdoor clothing makers in the U.S. Our country has become a throw away society because we can get cheap goods from overseas. Wintergreen clothing is made to last so if it means purchasing a garment made by an Amercian worker at a higher price, we feel this is a good thing. Buy less, keep it longer and throw away less!

BEING GREEN

Green has always been a part of our name. This year we are taking the leap to produce and send out only one catalog. In the mail order catalog business it is the standard to send out as many catalogs as possible in order to entice the customer to buy more. It is our sincere hope that our customer will save the catalog rather than throw it away. We believe it is our environmental responsibility.

We Guarantee Everything We Make

We test our products in all conditions to make sure they perform for you. If you are not satisfied, we want to know. We will refund, replace or repair any Wintergreen garment with a flaw or defect in craftsmanship or materials for one year after purchase. Damage due to normal wear and tear may be repaired at a reasonable charge.

LEFT TO RIGHT: Great garments start with great ideas in the Wintergreen design shop at the hands of our pattern-maker. Rolls of fabric are rendered into clothing pieces by Wintergreen’s chief cutter. Wintergreen’s team of expert seamstresses, combine the parts and pieces into beautiful apparel.
